Visa Support
Students will receive guidance and relevant documentation in advance of each mobility period to assist them with visa application processes. Whilst the CEERES consortium can assist students with visas, students are reminded that it is their responsibility to research application processes and to ensure that they abide by all immigration and visa legislation.
General
There are several possibilities to enter Estonia for the purpose of studying at the University of Tartu (UT). The options usually depend on the student’s country of origin and the level and duration of studies to be pursued at UT.
Non-EU Citizens
All students without EU/EEA or Swiss citizenship and not holding a visa from another EU member state, need a visa or temporary residence permit (TRP) to study in Estonia. To enter Estonia, students need to apply for a long-stay (D) visa for studies in an Estonian embassy abroad in person and once they are in Estonia, the TRP application process can be started, if applicable. Non-EU citizens cannot apply for an Estonian visa without an unconditional admission letter from the University of Tartu.

You can check to see if you require a visa on the UK Government Check If You Need a UK Visa webpage. Students should also consult the information on the University of Glasgow International Student Support website. Information on different visa types and entry routes to the UK can be found below:
Standard Visitor Visa
If you require a visa for the semester of study in Glasgow, you should apply for a Standard Visitor Visa. This is valid for up to six months and so is suitable for the semester in Glasgow. The documentation, including a Standard Visitor Letter, to support applications will be issued by the University of Glasgow during the first semester in advance of the second semester in Glasgow. Should you need to return to the University of Glasgow for your final mobility period, you should obtain another Standard Visitor Visa. Please note that you will not be eligible to apply for the UK Graduate Visa after your studies.
Standard Visitor
Some students, depending on their nationality, may be able to enter the UK for up to six months without a visa as a Standard Visitor. From 2025, students will require an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to travel to the UK. More information on ETAs can be found in the UK Government ‘What is an ETA?’ video and ‘Applying for a UK ETA’ video. Please note that you will not be eligible to apply for the UK Graduate Visa after your studies.
